Language — the filter is the response. Stated plainly, what "a slip gets a correction" on the Content Standards page means once the chat filter is running: a word the filter catches in text chat — the servers, /msg, and Discord channels — is blocked with a note, and that note is the correction; no reminder from a moderator follows and nothing goes on the record. Staff act only on what a filter can't handle: getting around it on purpose (spacing, symbols, or a spelling or shortening that's clearly the word), keeping it up after the filter has said so, voice, and swearing at someone — each starting where the ladder already puts it, with a correction. Until the filter is running, a slip is a reminder and nothing more. No rule changes; the version stays 2.0.

Taking from a container — three outcomes. Stated plainly, how "the consequence is proportional" on the Gameplay page applies to any container, not only a shop. A mistake — a misclick while browsing, something taken and forgotten, the wrong chest — shows in the log's shape: one container, one occasion, nothing moved on or used, and returned as soon as it's pointed out. It's handled with a hold until the player responds, then made right and recorded as a warning; a second mistake is a final warning; the value of what was taken doesn't decide this on its own. A deliberate taking — items picked out and moved to the player's own storage, more than one container, or a second trip — is theft on the theft path: a ban, and when the player asks, a return with a final warning and a wipe. The wipe is the whole of what the player holds — inventory, ender chest, containers, and stashes cleared, shop stock and profits removed, builds left standing — because what was taken and what it made possible can't be separated from the rest. A large haul across containers, anything hidden, spent, or passed on, lying about it after the log, or a second theft after the final warning for a first stays permanent; a mistake made right doesn't count as a first theft. No rule changes; the version stays 2.0.

The Discord tools list now names Dyno, the bot that carries out Discord bans and timed suspensions when a staff member gives the command, sends the notice by direct message, and keeps a case record of each action on its own infrastructure. The automated-processing section now says that Discord's AutoMod, or an anti-spam bot, may block a message with mass mentions or repeated pings and apply a short timeout, with anything further decided by a person. Nothing changed in what Cozy collects. Last updated: October 2, 2026.

The retention table now names two records: the verification record — the Discord account and the Minecraft account it verified, with the date — kept while the service operates so that access can be administered and an account identified after a ban, and removed on request where no ban depends on it; and the Voter register — the accounts of members holding the Voter role — kept while the role is held. The Discord moderation records row now names the staff notes behind an action, says that staff channels are retired by calendar year so many records go sooner than two years, and states a transition: records made before November 1, 2026 are deleted by October 31, 2027. A new row says what was always the case for messages and reactions in community channels: they stay visible as part of the community until the author deletes them, staff remove them, or the channel is retired, and Discord stores them under its own privacy policy. Nothing changed in what Cozy collects. Last updated: October 1, 2026.

Shops trade one way. Stated plainly: a shop's sign is the owner's permission for exactly the trade it describes — pay the price, take the item. Taking diamonds from a shop's payment chest in exchange for an item the shop didn't offer to buy is taking from a container without permission, and doing it across shops for the price difference is theft, on the theft path. A shop built to trade both ways says so on its sign, and what one shop allows is never permission at another. No rule changes; the version stays 2.0.

Stolen items and honest buyers. Stated plainly: when a theft is rolled back, the owner is made whole from the log, and the thief's wipe takes what they still hold and everything the theft brought them, proceeds included. A shop or a trader who dealt with the thief at a posted price without knowing keeps what they bought; staff recover items from a holder only when the log couldn't make the owner whole, or when the deal was obviously off — the Gameplay page's list — and holding them without knowing is never an offense. A shop a thief cheated is made whole when its owner opens a ticket. No rule changes; the version stays 2.0.

Shop underpayment. Stated plainly, as it has always worked here: when the log shows an underpayment at a shop, staff pause the player's Minecraft access with a temporary review hold — not a finding, and with no clock on it: it ends when they respond in a support ticket — because whether it was a mistake depends on what they do when told, and the shop owner is waiting. Respond and agree to make it right, and access is restored with one day to pay the difference or hand the item back; made right, it's recorded as a warning, as the Gameplay page says, and a second mistake is a final warning. A pattern, a big gap, anything hidden or moved on, arguing instead of paying, or the day passing with nothing done is a deliberate taking — theft. A week of silence means the transaction is rolled back for the shop owner and access stays paused until the player returns and hands the item back. No rule changes; the hold is the one the Enforcement page describes; the version stays 2.0.

Verification. Stated plainly: until an account is verified it can explore and use text chat, and can't build, break, pick up items, or use in-game voice chat. Voice is the one channel with no log and no filter, so it opens only once someone has agreed to the rules. Stated on the Verification page; no rule changes; the version stays 2.0.

Staff Code. Stated plainly: a report about staff conduct is made the way any report is — what happened and what was said, where, when, and by whom, rather than conclusions. Nothing about the route or the review changes; the Staff Code stays at version 1.0.

The Privacy Notice now describes the site's light/dark switch (your choice is stored in your browser only, under the name cozymc-theme, and never sent to Cozy), lists MEE6 and ProBot among the Discord tools with MEE6's 90-day log retention, says that comments on Cozy's official accounts are hidden when staff see them or they're reported, and states that people under 13 don't submit reports directly — a parent or guardian contacts Cozy for them. Nothing changed in what Cozy collects or how long it's kept. Last updated: September 28, 2026.

Chunk loading. Stated plainly: an account kept online to keep an area loaded — the player's own, an alt, or a friend's — is a chunk loader under the Gameplay page's limit and counts toward the 3 like any other. The limit is about server load, and a player account loads more than a loader does. No rule changes; the version stays 2.0.

On the Minecraft screens, a permanent ban carries a status word only when it's closed: FINAL-NA, the immediate-removal list. Any other Minecraft ban shows the reason in plain words and can be appealed through a support ticket at any time — and a first theft ban usually ends in a return, with a final warning and a wipe of everything the theft touched. FINAL is the Discord status (one written appeal, no earlier than 12 months after the ban). Stated plainly on the Ban status page and in the FAQ; no rule changes; the version stays 2.0.

The Minecraft disconnect and login screens now carry the status, the reason, and how to respond, so the Ban status page no longer describes the screens as being set up. A note from staff can be a correction or a warning; the first word says which. No rule changes; the version stays 2.0.

Stated plainly. The version stays 2.0; nothing here changes a rule.

Gameplay and Enforcement. Three different things. Incidental damage — a crop stepped on, a block broken passing through — is fixed and forgotten, a reminder at most. Griefing — deliberate damage in the course of playing: breaking into a build, taking down a wall, killing someone's animals — is rolled back and handled on the ladder, a warning first. Destruction as the purpose — TNT, lava, fire, or tools used to wreck a build, a farm, or a shared area — is a deliberate attack on the server, which has been on the immediate-removal list since version 2.0; the list now says so in those words, and the Gameplay page says which is which.

Shops. A mistake at a shop — the wrong currency, one too many, a misread sign — where the circumstances show it was a mistake is made right and recorded as a warning; a second mistake is a final warning; a deliberate taking is theft on the ban path, whatever came before. This is how the theft rule's "the consequence is proportional" has been applied; the Gameplay page now says it.

Accounts. Your account is yours alone: letting someone else play on it is bypassing verification, and whatever happens on the account is your conduct. Stated on the Verification page.

Notices. A Minecraft notice is the ban screen and your ticket. A Discord notice is sent by DM at the time of the ban where practicable and never from a personal account; if you didn't receive one, it's available from [email protected].

The Safety Reporting page (cozymc.com/safety-reporting) published today replaces the version in place before September 17 and matches the rules that took effect then. It says: safety reports go through the form, a support ticket, or [email protected], and anyone can report, including banned or former members; every report is acknowledged automatically and read by a person within 48 hours, with anything suggesting someone may be at risk treated as urgent and acted on first; screenshots are sent by replying to the acknowledgment, in a ticket, or by email, and intimate images are never sent to anyone; Minecraft bans are appealed in a ticket or, without Discord access, at [email protected], and Discord bans once after 12 months, as the Enforcement page says; and a report about a staff member goes to [email protected] with the subject STAFF CONDUCT. Nothing here changes a rule; the version stays 2.0.

Enforcement and Content. The immediate-removal item for romantic conduct covers sexual content, romantic or sexual conduct directed at someone the evidence indicates may be a minor (a stated age, a school year, a life-stage clue), and exploitation. Directed romantic conduct with nothing indicating a minor is involved is handled on the ladder, a warning at minimum, and reviewed if any age concern appears. "A ban pending case review" on the Content page is a temporary review hold. A Discord notice is sent by DM before a ban or restriction where practicable, otherwise as soon as it can be; a notice you didn't receive is sent on request to [email protected]. A safety restriction limits the specific thing it names rather than pausing access; a member banned from Minecraft can still open a support ticket.

Respect. Hate (attacks on who someone is), slurs, and threats are the immediate-removal items; hostility short of that is handled on the ladder and escalates fast.

Privacy. The rules exist so that nobody here should be findable through Cozy — stated as the goal, not a guarantee. The person who comes forward about something that already happened is treated as the person at risk, not the one under review. Discord DMs between friends aren't covered by the swearing rule; slurs, and sexual language toward another member, are violations wherever they happen.

Wording. The core code's closing section is now "Why these rules exist." Smaller alignments on the Reporting, Recording, How-the-rules-work, and Staff Code pages, none changing a rule.

Stated plainly, in answer to questions after v2.0 took effect. The version stays 2.0; nothing here changes a rule.

Mods. Litematica is allowed for your own builds and shared designs; Easy Place, Printer, and any mode, addon, or tweak that places blocks for you or changes where, how fast, or on what you can place them are not allowed on Survival — the Mods page names them. Freecam's condition is that the camera can't pass through blocks (the mod's "no clip" setting off) and can't interact.

Language. A slip is a correction: a reminder, not a penalty. Swearing on its own never leads to a ban; persistent swearing, or swearing at someone, escalates like any other conduct issue. Slurs and hate speech are on the immediate-removal list, as before. Working around the filter, once it's running, counts as swearing.

Structure. The rules are now a short core code plus topic-specific detail pages. Every rules post and dated clarification published before this version is replaced. The core code lives in #rules; the full rules, this changelog, the FAQ, and the Staff Code live at cozymc.com/rules.

Age. Asking anyone's age, or trying to determine it, is prohibited. Posting your own exact age or birthdate is prohibited. General life-stage references are handled as guidance.

Privacy. The privacy rules are consolidated on one page. Members may not solicit personal information or images from other members, bring identifying information into Cozy, or use Cozy to arrange in-person contact. Ordinary private friendships are not regulated. This page replaces the August 10, 2026 clarification.

Voice recording. The rule is defined by scope: Cozy voice chat — the Cozy Discord's voice channels and in-game voice on any Cozy server — is never recorded, and consent doesn't change that. Private calls between members are outside the rule and are governed by the privacy rules and the law.

Content. The prohibition on romantic or sexual relationships between people who met through Cozy, while either is a member, is stated in the core code. The preexisting-couples provision is kept.

Language. New: no swearing in Cozy chat or voice, including in-game private messages. A chat filter is being set up on the Minecraft servers and on Discord (a dated entry will follow when it's running); getting around it counts, and the rule applies without it. Discord DMs aren't covered. Private-message logs are seen only while staff handle a report or a specific concern, never routinely.

Community and recruitment. The rule is stated in terms of conduct: recruiting, inviting, giving access to private or invite-only spaces, onboarding, promoting, and organizing Cozy groups elsewhere. Advisory notice and safety designation are defined. This page replaces the August 5 notice and the July 14 and August 6, 2026 clarifications.

External links. Content is removed regardless of who placed it; consequences attach to the person who placed it. An outside invite in a Discord bio isn't a violation by itself; pointing Cozy members to it is.

Being invited. Stated plainly: being invited to another community, or joining one, is never a violation; findings are about the inviter's conduct. Reporting an invite is one ticket.

Profiles and Cozy's accounts. What's visible in a Discord profile inside Cozy follows the chat rules: no exact age, nothing sexual, no dating solicitation. Members are asked not to link their Cozy username to a real-name account anywhere. Cozy's official accounts on other platforms hide nametags unless the player asks to be credited, never confirm identities, never ask for usernames or personal information, hide comments that identify a member, and handle no reports or appeals.

Mods. Freecam is permitted with block clipping and interaction off, for screenshots and cinematics of what's in plain view; using any camera, Freecam or Replay Mod, to see through walls, roofs, or the ground, to find caves, ores, or players, or to act from the camera's position is prohibited. Removing regular Nether fog is permitted; removing lava fog remains prohibited. Any minimap is permitted with cave mapping and entity or player radar off.

Gameplay. Stated plainly: renewable use of someone's villagers and animals — trading, shearing, milking — is allowed, like harvesting crops, and killing, moving, or carting them off is griefing. The chunk-loader limit of 3 is per person, across all of that person's accounts.

Seed. Attempting to recover, share, or use Cozy's world seed is prohibited.

Creative work. New page. Copying map art or a written book needs the creator's permission — a new map at the canvas, a copy at a cartography table, or a copied book — whether for yourself or for someone else. The copy you bought is yours as that one item. Creators can mark a work open to copying with a sign. Builds: taking a schematic of a build you didn't make, or reproducing a distinctive build block for block, needs permission; learning from builds and building your own version is always fine. Designs from outside Cozy may be built if you're allowed to use them, are your responsibility, and are never presented as your own. Permission can also come from a passed petition. A first unauthorized copy is a correction.

Spawn. Storing TNT, gunpowder, and wither skulls in spawn-area containers, shops, and displays is prohibited.

Enforcement. Enforcement actions are named and every notice states its status. Immediate permanent removal is limited to a defined list. Discord bans outside that list may be appealed once, in writing, after 12 months, via [email protected]. Minecraft appeals may be made by email when Discord access isn't available. This page replaces all prior appeal rules.

Staff. A public Staff Code is published. Every staff member has attested in writing to being an adult. Staff keep Cozy business in tickets and Cozy spaces and don't use the role to start private contact with members.

Cameras and screen sharing. Cameras stay off in Cozy voice channels. Screen sharing is for Cozy's own servers, your own worlds and builds, and other games; what's on screen is content in a Cozy space; other Minecraft servers and Realms aren't streamed in Cozy voice.

Safety. The Privacy page names the warning signs to report — secrecy, gifts, photo requests, camera pressure, questions about where you live, moving somewhere private — and points to emergency services and crisis lines. The Reporting page says to contact emergency services first when anyone is in immediate danger. A page for parents and guardians is published at cozymc.com/parents.

Not carried forward. The conduct clause concerning coordinated negativity and off-platform narratives; the phrase "intent matters as much as action" (see proportionality).
